Poetry for the Soul
The life that I Have
~Leo Marks~
The life that I have Is all that I have
And the life that I have Is yours
The love that I have Of the life that I have
Is yours and yours and yours.
A sleep I shall have A rest I shall have
Yet death will be but a pause
For the peace of my years In the long green grass
Will be yours and yours and yours.

More Than A Rose©Bruce (Bear) Rodgers 2014
A rose so soft in its grace
Defining beauty with its life unfolding
Its touch so sweet
Caresses like a whisper
The shudder of my glance still holding
Its beauty holds me captive
Forever drawing me closer
More than a rose
My life, my Breath
Deep with in its velvet kiss
A thorn that seeds me pleasure
My drink of life I chase
Come as we dream
Come as we dream of love and desire
Carried away with passion’s fire
Covered in roses on a warm summer breeze
Cradled together and laughing with ease
Cicadas and crickets sing all day
Carefree and happy, the world melts away
Comforted by touch and gentle caress
Cloaked no more as we undress
Coupled we dance and dreams take flight
Carnal bliss long into the night

Was it your smile that attracted me
Was it the glow of your eyes
Was it the way that your words made me feel
Or was is the sound of your sighs
Was it the touch of your fingers
Was it the scent as you neared
Was it when leading through sweet grassy fields
My fluttering heart that you seared
Was it the brush of your soft lips
Was it caresses on skin

She gets in your blood like foreign Sangria,
A taste that is oh so sweet, sweet Mimi.
She'll let you drink a case of her, Chaldea;
Or sit at her feet and think in Kalde.
Living in a box of Williamsburg paints,
Sketching lives and loves liberates her;
She'll hold you without the usual constraints,
Set you free if you're a womanizer.
She paints for herself but writes for everyone—
Portraits in poetry, lives in blood,
Lovers in words— without justification,
A true Renaissance woman but guarded.
